Kinzua Bridge
Kane, Pennsylvania
Built in 1882 by the Erie Railroad. At the time, it was the highest railroad bridge ever built, earning the structure its proudly worn badge as the "Eighth Wonder of the World."
I took this picture in September, 2004 while traveling along State Route 6 from Hartford, CT to Columbus, Ohio on my 1967 Moto Guzzi. The sight of this bridge reminded me of the character Dagny Taggert from Ayn Rand's classic novel "Atlas Shrugged." A triumph of the human spirit over nature, it is only fitting that just a couple of years ago a large portion of the bridge succumbed to nature's will, having fallen as a result of a devestating tornado.
Wow. Fantastic point of view. Looks dangerous. ;)
