field of gold...

field of gold...

Of all the things to take a picture of in Hawaii, I am not sure this would be tops on anyone's list. Nonetheless, I thought it was a nice peaceful shot and I wanted to share it. My wife laughs and calls it my "weed" shot, as it was simply an overgrown field of weeds. Even a weed can be pretty to look at sometimes.

muir woods...

Redwood trees in Muir Woods National Monument just north of San Francisco. Impressive in their own right, the park had an almost mysterious feel to it late in the evening in the overcast mist.

red...

red...

The weather here in Columbus has been terrible the last few days. The car was iced in, as well as the front and back gates. Cabin fever, however, set in, so my wife and I walked downtown to see a movie.

Along our walk (made very difficult by the fact that neither sidewalk nor street was adequately plowed), we came across a single tree in the courtyard of an apartment building along High Street in the Short North area of Columbus. The red berries were out, encased in a think layer of ice.

A little color on an otherwise dreary day

icy bush...

icy bush...

Another example of ice as a result of this winter's storm. A random bush found along the sidewalk on a cold winter's day.

a single bloom...

These bloom once and then die. Such magnificant beauty for only a short period of time.

In our front yard is a beautiful magnolia tree.  Oddly enough, it blooms just two flowers each year.
